PRAYING THROUGH SCRIPTURE

Oh Lord,

My soul is bowed down within me. And as I think of the Acehnese, I remember that the scripture says "GREAT is your faithfulness." You are Almighty God. Merciful, compassionate and All powerful. We see your greatness in nature Lord, and bow down before you. We are called to account. Forgive us for our lack of reaching out, our seeing only ourselves and our own needs thank you that your forgiveness is infinite in Jesus always there. Right now we are overwhelmed with the need of the Acehnese; the loss of life, houses, shelter, food, health. These are people who feel their strenghth has gone. But Lord, surely my soul remembers as this writer that your lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, and your compassions never fail. They are new every morning. So as we pray, come to the Acehnese and reveal Yourself to them. Comfort the broken hearted; bring peace to those who have no peace and who feel their strength is gone.

Place your love for these people on the hearts of believers in the area so that they could keep reaching out to them. Allow them mercy and grace in their obedience. Prepare the way before them and show yourself great to them. Meet their needs as they go and do this.

We pray for practical needs, that the aid would go to the right places; for resources and for transportation of those resources. And as the government plans to rebuild cities and houses, Lord, meet the needs of the suffering and broken hearted. Keep the money from dishonest people. Be Lord over that, show your mercies and compassion. Give wisdom to both the relief workers and the government authorities in an overwhelming time of need. Rebuild the towns, rebuild the homes, and schools so that some stability would come back to childrens lives. Find homes for the orphans and keep people from taking advantage of them. For those that can not rebuild there homes in the area by the water, allow them to find places quickly; meet their need for shelter. Meet the needs of the people swiftly,in a way that glorifies you, King of Kings. Open our eyes Lord, and help us to know how we can help and need to help specifically if more than prayer.

Oh Lord, bring good out of this awful situation, good that only you can bring in the hearts and lives of people. Show yourself through the love of people, in visions, and dreams. Build communities of believers in Aceh Province so that your praise may be declared to the end of the earth.
