Delivered from Demon Possession!
It is not easy for us to talk about Jesus to those who have a strong Islamic faith. But we praise God who has prepared many different ways through which the Gospel can be delivered. One of these ways is through dealing with demon-possessed people.
A week ago I received a phone call from a very excited fellow-worker. Her first words were that the name of Jesus had been exalted. She is studying at a University where almost all the students are Muslim. Just moments before she called me, two of her class mates who had been demon possessed, were set free. It had taken a long time and several different attempts to free them as they were manifesting different behaviour such as biting, shaking, chanting spells etc. The school authorities even decided to close the bathroom area where they suspected the demonic activity originated as a precaution against further possessions.

"Jesus was going through all of the cities and villages, teaching and proclaiming the good news, and healing every kind of sickness and every kind of desease.

My colleague had been asked by her classmates how they cast out demons in her home-country. Her answer was clear and simple. “If we pray in the name of Isa Al Masih (The Arabic term for Jesus the Messiah) who you people know, demons will easily be cast out.” Since this time, she has been able to talk about Jesus without any restrictions.
They don't believe that Jesus is the Saviour, but a mighty apostle who cast out demons, healed the sick, raised the dead and even as the authority who will judge people on the day of judgement. It is not difficult for us to have opportunities to talk about Jesus in terms of the above, but the real issue is that it is not easy to make them understand the concept of salvation and who the Saviour is, due to the fact that they have been given the wrong information by their religious teachers. There is still much work for us to do here.
Prayer points:
- Wisdom for how to best use our time.
- Boldness to communicate Jesus clearly.
- The intervention of the Holy Spirit to touch souls with the Gospel.
