Minangkabau
'To be Minang is to be Muslim' is a saying from their proverbs and to become a non-Muslim is considered to be less than a Minang. The Minangkabau is one of the most fervent Mulsim people groups in Indonesia.
With a culture similar to that of the Malay, they are rich in traditions. One 'wandering' custom is young men leaving their villages to seek fortune or knowledge for a number of years before returning to their villages. As you read about the Minangkabau people, pray that they would seek not fortune but the Lord of all.
