This is one of a collection of rocks covered in ancient Sanskrit-Malay inscriptions. It is, according to the explanatory notice, at least 650 years old. The site is also the grave of the first great Minangkabau ruler, King Adityawarman, and the writing tells of his victory over Sumatra, the Land of Gold.

If you're interested to find out more about King Adityawarman and his kingdom, you could easily visit the royal palace on your way to the third rock. The choice is yours and there are even friendly locals willing to take you.

Skip the palace and go directly to the third rock with friends

Climb back on the bus and visit the palace
